A+/ it/ or.jc,as new/ compared to the very fine Ermitage CDs made from Swiss Radio sources this one sounds downright illegal. I figure the source is a good bootleg made by somebody up close to the stage, a little from below even, and made with an analogue tape recorder. Still, the sound is quite good and as the transfer has not ruined it we are happy to have it. The perfomance has the strangely austere cool impersonal air, that makes these pieces breathe and blossom in their unfathomably alien ways.

Overall it is very listenable, Gueden´s voice is completely undistorted, and the shortcomings of the sources were not ampliefied into digital troubles.

A+/ this CD is a perfect mystery, there is no label, or booklet, or number, but it is properly printed (not a CD Rom), in Canada. The recordings on it are not issued otherwise, I think, and the transfers are decently straightforward. Bryan Townsend writes of a CD presented to Paul Kling ´when he was awarded the Cross of Honour for Arts and Letters by the President of Austria´, containing the same Beethoven concerto. Maybe someone in Canada copied that CD professionally but issued it in a rather non-com style. However, it´s incredibly rare.
