Back then Early Music and early instruments were an adventure off the beaten track, and the Kagel was performed in just the same adventurous spirit. Listening to this half-forgotten Kagel now is an adventure again. The glorious sounds this orchestra produces still are terrifyingly out of the orderly and have not come to be consumed with the accustomed ease all New Music falls prey to sooner or later. This, strangely, still is new music.
